Musky are the apex predators of freshwater. These fish are a challenging adversary for even the most seasoned fly rod angler. Dubbed as “the fish of 10,000” casts, musky are notoriously difficult to catch on the fly. When targeting these fish you must have good casting mechanics and a lot of stamina. We target these fish with 10-12 wt fly rods using a variety of tactics that involve large heavy flies.
