End of Summer Fishing Report

End of Summer Fishing Report: It’s the end of August, and somehow summer seems to have flown by this year.

I spent most of the summer in Western Pennsylvania chasing smallmouth, and we couldn’t have asked for much better conditions. We had record rainfall throughout the summer, which opened up a ton of smaller-water opportunities that normally aren’t in play by late summer. At the same time, the bigger rivers fished extremely well.

May Fishing Report:

May has been a solid month. There have been easy days and technical days, but overall there have been too many great days to count!

It’s hard to believe how quickly spring has come and gone as we transition into early summer and begin shifting our focus toward smallmouth bass. Here’s a recap of our May trout fishing.

April Fishing Report

April Fishing Report:

Our two fishing bases experienced drastically different weather in April. Pennsylvania saw good rainfall and normal spring temperatures, while Tennessee had unseasonably hot weather and very little rain.

Despite the variability, we’ve had great days at both locations using streamers, nymphs, and dries—though some days were certainly better than others.

Early Spring Fishing Report

After such a brutal winter, I was suprised that the transition into spring was so seamless and simple. With the exception of maybe 2 inches of snow and a couple days that didn’t crack 40 we had a pretty pleasant march.

March Fishing Report

March Fishing Report: It seems old man winter has finally showed some chinks in his armor. March quickly separated itself from the long and awful winter that seemed to span 3 full months.

With the exception of a couple decent February days in Tennessee during short warm periods my winter has largely been spent tying flies and spending much needed time with family.
